Who We Are

2014 will mark the 15th consecutive year of Nebraska Senior Softball (NSS). In the year 2000, former Commissioner Dave Banghart began the league with two teams and a desire to promote softball and increase the physical, mental, and spiritual wellness of players based upon the three pillars of the organization‚ĶFun, Fitness, and Fellowship. The league has grown in number each of the past 14 years. NSS eligibility is extended to men and women within the geographical region, age 50 and above, who can meet reasonable fitness and skill levels. The league is divided into two seasons, Spring/Summer and Fall. As with any team sporting organization, NSS offers competitive play with a strong emphasis on exercise and friendships. Some rules have been modified to prevent injuries and allow less experienced ballplayers the best chance to enjoy the sport of softball. Currently, NSS is contracted for games at the LaVista Sports Complex (on 66th Street, south of Harrison) and traditionally have played games on Monday and Wednesday evenings. In addition, experienced players have an opportunity to play with independent tournament teams from the area in state, regional, and national tournaments. Each of these teams is based upon 5 year increments (50-54, 55-59, etc.). NSS players must apply to the team manager of each squad and earn a spot on these tournament team rosters. For additional information regarding Nebraska Senior Softball and/or tournament team eligibility, contact the Director of Player Personnel, Duke Burgess, or any NSS Board Member.Hope to see you on the diamond in 2014! ¬†In the mean time, you can stay in shape by joining us for…
