26 April, 2011 – The 2011 Summer League Schedule is ready! It includes a total of 143 league games to be played on 24 evenings starting next Monday, May 2 through July 27, exclusive of the two holidays on Memorial Day and the 4th of July. Our league will consist of two divisions, a 7-team American Division and a 6-team National Division, with the two division winners playing for the League Championship, tentatively scheduled for July 27. All 13 teams are scheduled to play 22 games including two rounds of intra-division play and two rounds of 12 to 14 games against teams in the other division. Each team is scheduled to equally play 11 home games and 11 away games and the time slots of 6:15, 7:30 and 8:45 have been fairly allocated to each team to the extent feasible. The six game schedule per evening will maximize the full use of our two assigned fields, Nos. 3 and 4, at the La Vista Sports Complex, and our board has agreed there will be no attempt to re-schedule any rain-outs this season, as there simply are no open dates nor other acceptable fields available for our use.
When you really take the time to stop and think about it, Nebraska Senior Softball is one of the best bargains in town, costing each of us less than $4.10 per game including a new MLB replica jersey and cap, 22 games of softball, and a lot of Fun, Fitness and Fellowship together, which makes for great friendships and a very interesting, exciting and rewarding season for all of us. We are so fortunate and blessed at our age to be able to continue playing for “The Love of the Game.”
20 April, 2011 – The count of registered Players stands at 155 today, the close of preseason registrations. That means we have enough for 13 Teams with 12 players on all but one team, which will have 11.
