2024S schedule has been published

The 2024S schedule is posted. Each team’s schedule is available to download or you can simply review the schedule online. Click on PLAY BALL! -> Standings then click on a team name to see that team’s schedule

  1. The results, at a high level:
All teams within their division play each other twice, once as home and once as visitor
  2. The relatively short season, due to fields not being available for effectively three weeks, results in a limited number of inter division games.
    • 14 teams get 2 inter division games
    • 4 teams get 1 inter division game
  3. Bye games – the result of having 18 teams with a max of 16 being able to play on any given night
    • 14 teams get 2 bye games
    • 4 teams get 3 bye games
    • A complaint from last season is that one or more teams supposedly received back-to-back bye games. I didn’t look at 2023S, but I doubt that happened. Regardless, I ensured that no team has back-to-back bye games, although the off nights and weeks will make it appear so.
  4. 8:45 games
    • We all love to hate them, but they are what they are
    • It was a real challenge to keep the number of back-to-back 8:45 games to a minimum. It was even more of a challenge to eliminate back-to-back-to-back 8:45 games.
    • No teams have back-to-back-to-back 8:45 games
    • 4 teams have two instances of back-to-back 8:45 games
    • 10 teams have one instance of back-to-back 8:45 games
    • 4 teams have no back-to-back games
    • Mother Nature has the final say in what games are played or not.
  5. As always, modifying the schedule is like trying to master standing dominoes. Changing one thing can easily make the dominoes fall. Fortunately, An Excel spreadsheet was written and used to modify the software provided schedule and to see what happens to the “dominoes” during any change. It takes MANY iterations of changes to get the never perfect schedule to a reasonable state.

Lastly, the Director of Scheduling job is available for anyone that wants to complain. 🙂
